My specialities are
-
athlete mental health
As athletes, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and stress (among others) might take on a different tone. Together, we'll explore the specific challenges you face within the realm of athletics. Some topics that I have experience working with are performance anxiety, disordered eating, identity within (and without) sport, interpersonal challenges with coaches, teammates and community, adjustment to injury, retirement from sport and depression due to any combination of these.
-
Stress + Life Transitions
Stress is an inevitable part of our lives. I offer a curated approach that reflects and illuminates the undertones of stressors/transitions, in hopes of crafting a blueprint to follow when future stressors arise.
-
Grief
Whether it is loss of a person, place, pet, or past self, grief is one of the most profound and devastating experiences of our lives. My role is to provide a supportive environment where we can openly discuss and navigate it together. By acknowledging and validating your emotions, we can work towards organizing and finding meaning in your grief journey.
-
Trauma
Trauma can cast a long shadow on our lives, affecting our sense of safety and well-being. I offer a compassionate space to explore your experiences, name your fears, and work towards healing and resilience.
-
Depression + self esteem
Depression has a variety of flavors and shades. Underneath it are core beliefs, experiences and thought patterns that we'll explore, while also developing practical strategies to promote positive change and enhance your sense of self-worth
-
Anxiety / Panic
Anxiety lives in the brain and the body. By understanding how our internal systems “speak” to each other, we can better control and mitigate our stress response, finding ways to rewire your brain and cultivate a sense of calm and resilience in the face of life's challenges. By acknowledging the somatic response we can then process and rewire the emotive and cognitive response.
-
Substance/Alcohol use
Facing challenges with substance or alcohol use can feel overwhelming, but there's a way forward. Through a collaborative approach that explores motivation to change, as well as personal values and strengths, we'll work together to empower you to make positive changes and regain control over your life.
